Captain’s log, stardate 17102024….. Steps to recovery #16 – make a note 📝

One thing that has helped me as I have worked my way through the recovery phase has been taking notes.

When I first got home it was the daily walk down the garden as I did a body scan for pain. Every morning I’d make copious notes on how my body was doing. It was so helpful to be able to see progress or have clarity on issues to share with my community nurse. I could track the levels of pains relief. I have now moved to weekly but the same principle.

Equally every time I changed my stoma bag. Make a note of the time . Trying to find pattens and work out usage

Then there was this blog. A chance to share updates and things that make me smile. This has temporarily replaced my written diary.

Then a list of programmes to watch. Ted Lasso, Slow Horses, United and Linford are highlights.

Of course a “to do” list so I don’t forget any jobs. A growing list as my recovery progressed! People to call and jobs to do. It has been amazing to finally sort some of those “round tuit” jobs! How will I find time for work?

Then the shopping list. Making sure I have a reason to pop into town and try one of the many bakers in Hitchin these days! Top rated? I reckon Quotidian!

I have even just started to take a note of Xmas present idea! 🎁

It may be me but having stuff written down makes it real and makes it happen! It also helps me looks back and remember and learn. And you can’t beat ticking things off a list! ✔️ 😀

Ooh I just love a list!

When we got married my dad’s father of the bride speech focussed heavily on my love of lists-writing them, ticking them off, writing things on that hadn’t made the list so they could then be ticked off!

Hope the phased return to work has started well!
