Good initial visit today to meet a physio. Clearly he hasn’t had many colorectal patients with a stoma through the system so he was on a learning curve! We did work out that by placing a pillow under my back I could lie down and start some basic core muscle engagement work. Simple idea but I guess that’s why I went!
So now I have some initial exercises to start applying. Nothing too strenuous but good to know I can manage. I also have homework to ask the nursing team what I am allowed to do as time moves on ahead of my next visit – as part of that I need to Google what a Pallof press is!? 🤔
What was fun as clearly I knew more about my condition than him (and the limitations this meant) and he is a good physio. As he said, for him it will be an interesting assignment that gets him thinking – beats the usual answer for recovery from knee surgery that he suggested are the most common!
He even ended by focusing on the steps to get me back to running safely! Now that will be one to look forward to!
#excited #takeitslowly 🐌 💪 😀❤️
Oh yes, stoma belt on order – decided not to go for the ones with built in pants 🩲 #nobigknickers 🤣
